If individual or joint taxpayers need more time to file, all they need to do is simply complete by the April 15th deadline in order to receive an automatic extension of 6-months to file. Form 4868
Form 4868 provides an automatic 6-month extension for the following IRS Forms:

Exempt Organization Tax Extension Form 8868
Charities, nonprofits, and other exempt groups can e-file Form 8868 to receive an automatic filing extension of 6-months to file the IRS Form 990. The deadline to file Form 8868 is May 17th.
You need the following information to file:
- Your organization's name
- Your organization's address
- EIN/Tax-ID
- Which 990 you normally file
Important:
- IRS Form 8868 cannot be used to extend the due date of form 990-N (e-postcard).
- IRS Form 8870 can't be e-filed with Part I or part II, but we can generate Form 8870 in your account for you to print, complete, and mail to the IRS.

Information Returns Extension 8809
Employers who need extra time to file their ACA, 1099s, and information returns can simply complete Form 8809 by the deadline to receive an automatic extension of 30 days to file. The deadline for varies based off of which form you need an extension on: Form 8809

Deadlines to file 2024 IRS Extension Forms
The deadlines for IRS extensions form vary based on which form you're filing an extension for. However, all extension forms must be completed and submitted to the IRS prior to the original tax deadline.
